Artworks Fine Art Studio, located in McLean and Bethesda is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of fine art. Our programs focus is on the fundamentals of drawing and painting. Classes take place in a highly creative, instructive environment.
At Artworks, we believe that everyone has the ability to learn to draw and paint. We use a unique step-by-step process which help children produce beautiful works of art, while at the same time, building self esteem. Students begin by learning basic drawing and pastel techniques, which builds a strong foundation for the student to learn the fundamentals of art.
Artworks Fine Art Studio opened in September 2003. Erin Johnson, a Bethesda native started the program when she realized there was need for Art education in the Washington DC area.
Erin attended Brown University, where she obtained a BS in Visual Art and Art Semiotics. Erin has also studied at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), the Lorenzo de Medici School in Florence Italy, as well as the Art Institute of Chicago. Erin began working at Walt Whitman H.S. as a Photography and Ceramics instructor in 2000 and had a short stint in Los Angeles CA, where she taught in a private art school and pursued her own painting.
Artworks is actively involved with the schools in the DC area, annually donating classes to school auctions. Artworks also displays the work of their young artists at different venues including their student gallery located on the second floor of the studio.
